The ministry of health and family welfare on September 23, 2013 fixed a combined score of 120 out of 200 (100 marks from SSC, HSC GPA + 100 marks from MCQ Test) as minimum needed for admission.

Currently, 22 government medical colleges have 2,811 seats, while 53 private medical colleges have been allowed to enroll 4,800 students.

Nine government dental colleges offer 532 seats, while 18 private dental colleges can enroll 165 students.

The health ministry has decided that the minimum qualifying number for medical and dental tests is 120. That means students who have GPA-5 in both SSC and HSC examinations will be eligible to get admitted into a medical college if they get only 20 marks out of 100 in the MCQ test. The admission test for public medical colleges is very competitive and securing one’s position in any of the colleges requires big scores in SSC and HSC examinations as well as admission test. But it is the private medical colleges which are taking full advantage of the current medical and dental admission test rules. Students having nominal 20 marks in the admission test are getting admitted into many private medical colleges. Experts are of the opinion that if the system is being followed, the life-saving sector might be operated by a group of physicians in the future who will have shallow knowledge and unable to provide required treatment to tertiary level patients leading to patients’ vulnerability than cure.

Therefore, as people’s life, to some extent, depends on the performance of doctors, we need to put emphasis on quality not quantity. ❖ 300 � 300 pixel JPEG format Picture of candidate. File size not more than 100 KB.

❖ Scanned signature of candidate (jpeg format) in 300 � 80 pixel. File size not more than 60 KB.

❖ There are two options in the form. One for the applicant who have passed SSC/HSC/Alim etc and another for those who have passed O-level/A-Level or from abroad. For the applicants of second category an equivalent certificate and code must be collected form Director General, Medical Education. Without this application form can�t be filled-up.

❖ In the initial page of admission form- Roll No, Board, Year of SSC, HSC etc should be filled up. If anyone has opportunity in tribal quota he/she must click the button of Tribal/Hiitract�s non-tribal quota. If it is not clicked he/she cannot take the opportunity of tribal quota related options and G.P.A 7.00 for tribal quota will not be applied.

❖ Home district must be filled up. After getting chance in district quota if the student can�t show the district certificate, that seat will then be cancelled. This is also applicable for other quotas.

❖ A username and password will be provided after paying the fees by pre-paid teletalk. This (username and password) will be sent to both numbers i.e the number through which the fees was paid and the number that was filled in the form. Any operator number can be given in the star marked number of the form. Admit card can be downloaded 4/5 days prior to the exam by using this username and password.


❖ Process of paying fees:

* Go to the message option of any mobile having prepaid teletalk number. Then type DGHS, then space then Invoice No. and then send to the 16222 number. E.g: Type DGHS <space> FRLGCT and send this message to 16222 number. Here FRLGCT is the invoice no.


* In return SMS a PIN number and applicant�s name will be given and also permission for deducting 600 BDT as exam fees will be asked. To give permission an SMS should be sent to 16222 by following way.


* Go to the message option. Then type DGHS, then space then type YES, then space , then insert the PIN number, then space and then insert maximum four chosen Centre code (give comma in between them) and send it to 16222. E.g: Type DGHS <space> YES <456789> <space> 15, 16, 22, 32 and send to 16222. Here 456789 is the PIN number and 15, 16, 22, 32 are Centre code.


* If the PIN number is correct then 600 BDT will be deducted from that prepaid teletalk number. The applicant will be notified the name of exam Centre along with a username and password via return SMS. This is the same username and password that was mentioned in article 9.


❖ 1 week after the last date of submission of application, applicant will be allowed to downloaded and print the admit card by using his/her username and password. Availability of the admit card in the website will be notified via SMS. Admit card can be recollected by the same process if it is lost. ❖ Non-govt. medical or dental college will not be exam Centre.

During the British colonial rule in 1915, a weaving school was established at Pabna to meet Textile technician education by offering artisan level course. It was named Pabna Govt. Weaving School. The Governor of Bengal of the then British Government visited this institution on 25 January 1926. It was upgraded to Pabna District Textile Institute in 1980 to offer two years certificate course in Textile Technology. In 1994 this institute was promoted to conduct three years Diploma course in Textile Engineering under Bangladesh Technical Education Board. The Prime Minister of Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh decided to upgrade this institution to B.Sc. in Textile Engineering College in 2006 to offer four Years Bachelor Degree in Textile Engineering by affiliation with the University of Rajshahi and renamed it as Pabna Textile Engineering College.At present Pabna Textile Engineering College under the "Jute and Textile ministry" affiliation with The "Bangladesh University of Textile" .
Curriculum

The first year syllabus consists of pure science in addition to some basic concepts of textile engineering.

From the second year onwards, students acquire a wide range of theoretical and practical knowledge in the area of textile engineering which equip them for future employment.

In third year students become capable to acquire the full knowledge about Textile Engineering.

In the fourth or final year students have to choose groups of subjects for specialization. These include

    Yarn Manufacturing
    Fabric Manufacturing (Weaving and Knitting)
    Wet Processing
    Garments Manufacturing
    Fashion and Design

They also undertake project work, have an industrial attachment(internship) and must take a comprehensive viva.
Students

At present approximately 320 students are enrolled at the college. Of these, around 15% are female.
Admission

Admission procedure is controlled by Department of Textiles, Bangladesh. Students who have passed HSC or equivalent exam can apply for admission. Admission is run once a year, generally November to December.
Foreign students

Foreign students must apply well in advance through their respective embassies in Bangladesh to the Ministry of Education, enclosing evidence of examinations passed and a transcript of academic records.
Career prospects

The technological knowledge and skills of textile engineers are highly valued by textile manufacturing companies. The majority of textile graduates take up posts in the textile manufacturing industry as process or plant managers, development engineers or technologists. Recent graduates have found employment in the areas of production management, design, textile testing and quality assurance, new product development, purchasing, commercial banks and customs. At present there is a huge demand for textile engineers in Bangladesh.
Facilities

Workshop and laboratories at the Pabna Textile Engineering College are equipped with the latest machinery and equipment of international standard.
Yarn manufacturing laboratory

This laboratory provides practical knowledge regarding the yarn preparing technology both short staple (cotton) and long staple (jute). The laboratory facilities includes both conventional and modern machinery with new technology like open-end spinning and air jet spinning.
Weaving laboratory

The laboratory has the facility to weave cotton, synthetic and jute fabric including tappet, dobby and jacard loom hand operated looms, ordinary power looms, automatic power looms and modern looms with CAD systems. Modern looms include air-jet looms, rapier looms with electronic jacquard and projectile looms.
Knitting laboratory

This laboratory is equipped with both warp and weft knitting machinery. Warp knitting machinery includes both raschel and tricot machine and weft knitting machine include circular (single jersey, interlock, rib, jacquard) and flat knitting machines.
Wet processing laboratory

This laboratory includes machinery for singeing, desizing, mercerizing, dyeing, printing and finishing and students are able to gain a thorough knowledge of wet processing technology. It has the facility for dyeing material as fibre, yarn and fabric and various style of printing. It also has computerized data colour system, gas chromatography and mass spectrometer, light fastness and other quality control equipment required to ensure high quality dyeing and finishing.

Wet processing laboratory is expanded recently. A new building named Dyeing Building is recently completed, is the best dyeing lab among Textile Engineering Colleges in Bangladesh. Most recent and modern machines are placed there.
Garments and Fashion Design Laboratory

The garments laboratory is equipped with all the types of cutting, sewing and finishing machinery used in the garment industry. It is also equipped with Lectra CAD-CAM system for computerized marker making, cutting and garments dyeing, washing and embroidery.
Testing laboratory

The testing laboratory is one of the best in the country and has the facility to test fibres, yarn and fabric. The conventional and modern testing equipment include an evenness tester, Classimat, single yarn strength tester, multifunctional Superba tester, HFT and electronic microscope.
Computer laboratory

A well equipped computer laboratory provides practical opportunities for forty students at a time. Use of the Internet is available for teachers and students.
Electrical laboratory

This laboratory gives students the chance to become acquainted with electronic and electrical technology. It is equipped with pneumatic and electro-pneumatic control systems.
Physics laboratory

The physics laboratory is equipped with machinery and equipment suitable for graduate students.
Chemistry laboratory

The chemistry laboratory is suitable for forty students at a time to undertake practical work.
Engineering workshop

The engineering workshop is equipped with lathes, universal strength testers, shaping machines, cutting machines, drilling machines, welding machines, circular saws and various types of tools for carpenters.

The Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Dhaka was established on 7 May 1921 according to the recommendation of Sadler Commission. Intermediate colleges and high schools in Dhaka city and Islamic intermediate colleges and high madrasah of greater Bengal were under control of that board. An advisory board made by the director of public education department of greater Bengal was given the authority to govern the board.

Admission Requirements:
